Divided Supreme Court Hears Emergency-Room Abortion Case: DOJ vs. Idaho’s Pro-Life Law

Andrew Harnik

Pro-abortion and pro-life supporters hold simultaneous rallies outside the Supreme Court on April 24, as the high court heard oral argument to decide if Idaho emergency rooms can provide abortions to pregnant women during an emergency using a federal law known as the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act to supersede a state law that criminalizes most abortions in Idaho.

The Supreme Court’s decision in this case could have far-ranging effects on protections for unborn children in Idaho and more than 20 other states that have passed pro-life laws in the past few years.
