Eduardo Verástegui’s movie tops the list of movies beating Taylor Swift and Indiana Jones

(ZENIT News / Rome, 01.17.2024).- At the beginning of 2024, the website The Numbers published the list of the most-watched and highest-grossing films in 2023. According to the report, the movie “Sound of Freedom,” directed by Eduardo Verástegui and starring Jim Caviezel, made it to the top 10 most-watched films in theaters in the United States.

It is surprising that a movie produced with $14.5 million reached the rankings, considering, for example, that “Barbie” cost ten times more: $145 million.

Angel Studios, founded in 2021, which took charge of bringing this film to theaters, has been very successful with its productions, emerging as one of the leading producers of religious-themed content with significant viewership in recent years. Among its upcoming productions are the fourth season of “The Chosen” and the film “Mother Cabrini,” set to be released soon.

After its resounding box office success in the United States, the movie “Sound of Freedom” has already been released in many countries in Latin America, Spain, and is now available on platforms like Amazon Prime.

The film “Sound of Freedom” tells the story of Tim Ballard, a former agent of the U.S. Secret Service who rescues children by pretending to be part of the trafficking system, risking his life to dismantle it from within.

The purpose of the film was to raise awareness about the issue of child trafficking. In addition to promoting significant awareness on the subject, it aimed to call on those who can take action on behalf of these children.

In an interview with the producer, Verástegui stated that he wanted to garner as much help as possible because “when it comes to children, you want everyone’s help, not just a few; this is not a matter of exclusivity.” With this release, Verástegui has become one of the most important social activists on the subject, receiving support from many governments and private companies.
