Photographer’s description: “As the fighting of the ISIS war wound to a close, the displaced Christians of Nineveh slowly began to return to their homes. Surrounded by reminders of the heavy fighting that had taken place there, they struggled to return to a life of normalcy and the simple joys of community. Here, a group of Chaldean town elders gathers for Sunday afternoon tea and conversation in the bullet and shrapnel scarred courtyard outside their community center.”

The photographs are on display until July 28 in an exhibition called ‘Among the Displaced’ at the Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Center for Thought & Culture
